Little did I know that exactly 18 days after I wrote the blog post titled, “solo.“, that I would actually have a Solo in my life.
Fast forward to Monday, August 5th. I am back to school in training every day and I am definitely trying to adjust to still getting all of the work at the house done with being back to work. I get home late, after completing barn chores, and I decide to water plants.
So, I water all the potted stuff out front. After completing that, I figured I should probably go ahead and start making my lunch for the next day. Knowing full well that if I sit down, I am a goner! I turn on the radio in the kitchen and start all of those fun kitchen chores up. I am finishing up my lunch when the inspiration sparks to check and see if there are any blackberries left in the garden. As soon as I head outside, I hear something.
Is it a bird?
Is it a kitten?
No, it’s not a kitten.
It’s got to be a bird.
But, man, that sounds like a kitten.
I should go look for it.
No, it’s a bird.
But it sounds like a kitten.
Don’t look for it.
LOOK FOR IT you horrible human.
Over the kitchen radio, the radio in the girl cave and the road noise, I realize I am most definitely hearing a kitten.
So, I start searching, entirely expecting to find a pile of kittens somewhere. I walk into the back yard and I am looking around waiting for the kitten/bird thing to make noise again.
“Man, look at that weird mushroom!”
The mushroom’s mouth moved. Yep, there is the kitten.
Please excuse the my attire, I was in work mode…NOT EXPECTING TO TAKE A SELFIE WITH A KITTEN!!
Now, true confession, I grew up with kittens. However, I have never really considered myself a “cat” person. I believe it has something to do with the entire stigma of “cat ladies” that I can dig into later when I am not nearly as tired.
Thankfully, I found the Kitten Lady, where I learned all of the basic necessities to bottle raising an orphan kitten. If you don’t know who she is, you should totally check her out!
I am pretty proud to say that 6 weeks later, we’re both still alive. He has been fully vetted and has been deemed healthy, minus having a wee bit of a “little shit” attitude.
With all of that, meet the newest member of my little family. Solo.
I am now a cat person.
Peace out peeps.
